Things to do alone in Bangkok (that don't feel like doing things alone)

Bangkok is full of things to do, but going alone can feel like standing at the edge of someone else's party. A small group with a host changes that: everyone arrives not knowing anyone, and the activity gives you something to talk about.

Why a small group is easier than a big event

At a big mixer you have to start every conversation yourself. In a group of six to eight, the host introduces everyone and you spend the evening doing the same thing together, so talking comes naturally.

On Meetingy you also see who's coming the day before: first names, ages and one fun fact each. You walk in already knowing a little about the table.

Good first activities

Beginner padel or badminton, where nobody expects you to be good. A supper club or cooking class, where the food starts the conversation. An early walk in one of the city's parks before the heat. A board game night, where the rules do the talking. Look for the "Beginners" and "English and Thai" tags if you're new.

How to make it go well

Pick something you'd enjoy even if you didn't click with anyone. Arrive ten minutes early and scan in with the host's code. The next morning, pick privately who you'd see again: if it's mutual, you're connected, and nobody ever knows who didn't pick them.

On in the next two weeks
