How to meet people in Singapore as a newcomer

Moving to Singapore is easy on paper and lonely in practice. Work fills the week, and weekends go to errands. Small activities with a host are one of the simplest ways to meet people outside work without it feeling like networking.

Skip the big mixers

Large expat events are easy to find and hard to enjoy: short conversations, the same questions, no reason to meet again. A small group doing something together gives you time to actually talk, and a reason to come back next week.

What to try

A beginners' sport session, a supper club, a morning walk, a quiz or board game night, or a language exchange. Pick the time that suits you: early birds and night owls both have options, and weekly activities make it easy to become a regular.

What to expect

You join with one tap, see your group the day before, and can say hi in the group chat. Afterwards you privately pick who you'd see again. When you both pick each other, you can swap contacts.
