Beginner padel in Bangkok: how to start, and who to play with

Padel is played in doubles on a small court with glass walls, which means the ball stays in play and beginners get long rallies quickly. It's one of the friendliest racket sports to start from zero, and it's always played with other people.

What a first session is like

Most beginner sessions start with the basic strokes and the rule that surprises everyone: you can play the ball off the walls. Within the hour you're playing short games in pairs, rotating partners so you meet the whole group.

What to bring

Sports shoes with a flat sole, water, and something to wipe your face. Many hosts provide rackets and balls for beginners; the activity page says what to bring.

Finding a group

Look for padel activities tagged "Beginners". Groups are small, the host sets the level, and if you enjoy it you can follow the host and join their weekly session. After each game you can pick who you'd play with again.
